Winter Break

I'm off to Alabama State for the Winter Break and will visit ASU's Research Centers and Dr. Shree Singh!

At Alabama State University, we’ve changed the world through education; now, we aim to do the same through our research.
Today, ASU is a hotbed for discovery in science---we’ve been awarded more than $7.5 million in NSF grants since 2005. Thanks to our Center for Nanobiotechnology Research, Office of Research Development and 70,000-square-foot state-of-the-art Life Sciences facility, students and faculty, like Dr. Shree Singh,  are partnering with universities around the world and conducting groundbreaking research in nanobiotechnology to develop alternative energy sources and to cure and prevent disease.

Internship Complete!

I jammed hard on Friday to complete my 32 page project report for my ASET internship- The laboratory survey results were quite interesting and I found it curious that many laboratories have no idea what the S&I LRI guidance project is all about- nor do they know Logical Observation Indicators Names and Codes... hmmm I wonder how they manage to process anything! My report is considered confidential and proprietary until such time as the State Governor's Office -HIE- Arizona Strategic Enterprise Technology- has time to digest my findings regarding CLIA labs in the state, they will let me now when and if I can share it with you all here on my blog. The report will ultimately be submitted to Department of Human Services Office of the National Coordinator-as part of  a Nationwide Health Information Exchange Network initiative required from each State for health information technology incentives and program management.

Friday afternoon- I attended the AZ State Internship Holiday mixer-wow! A very interesting group of students assembled to meet and greet- discuss our projects and network with State employees- Most of the students were from ASU  and working on either their Bachelor's or Master's degrees. Study areas varied from criminal justice, law, science, technology, and one brave girl interned at the State Clemency Board- she met death row inmates just days prior to their execution... On Tuesday, I will make a brief presentation to State dignitaries (as yet unnnamed)  concerning my research findings and my internship experience. It has been a long but rewarding semester.

On to my next major endeavor... finals week!!! I have three more finals in the next three days.. then I'm off to Alabama to visit the University.. and my finace'!

My internship and research project will be complete in another two weeks- I am working diligently on the database and spreadsheets documenting Arizona's Clinical Laboratory responses to my survey. I just received notice that the CIO and President of ASET- a division of the Governor's Office want me to prepare a presentation to give to them this Tuesday to provide updates information on my project, Phoenix College's programs, and informatics. This is indeed a great opportunity to network but I am a little nervous! I am trying to prepare for finals, wrap up my research and now I have a new project due in just a few days... I will update my blog with the results of my research once I have complied all the data.. For now.. gotta get busy!
