Bio

Greetings!

Let's begin with the here and now. I am a full time student at Phoenix College in sunny Arizona. I spend the majority of my time on campus either attending classes, studying, or working in the REACH/TRiO student support services program for first generation, low income and/or disabled students. Two afternoons a week I can be found working office hours in the Title V STEM  program as a STEM Scholar/peer mentor. Peer mentoring has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Assisting other students who are pursuing STEM careers puts me in contact with some of the brightest and best students on campus. They are what motivates and inspires me to succeed.

I am engaged to an amazing man who gives me the freedom to pursue my education and waits patently for me to begin my career. He has spent numerous hours on the phone listening to me read my biology note-cards over and over and over. What a saint! I have two children, David 28 and John, 22. David is a CNC Machinist; he earned his certificate at Maricopa Skill Center. John graduated from Phoenix College in May of 2012 with degrees in Associate of Arts and Associate of Arts-Fine Arts. He is in his first semester at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.  As you can see we are quite the MCCCD family. I suppose I should add that I am a Phoenix College Ambassador. There's a surprise!

Prior to attending Phoenix College, I worked with my fiance' driving a truck across the US and Canada. When the economy tanked, I felt it was time to put my brain to use and attend college. Upon graduation form Phoenix College, I will transfer to Alabama State University and live there with my fiance' in our new home. Well, it's actually a 1920 Craftsman that we are renovating, but it is new to us.

In my spare time, I am an avid reader of novels of all types. I never, and I mean never watch TV! I love Delta, Texas, and Chicago style blue's music. I adore our Harley Davidson Heritage Springer bike and indeed do live to ride!
